Alexandra Burke Gets Leona Lewis Restaurant Tips

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball - Day 2

Is Alexandra Burke looking to take advice from the very veggie and equally hot Leona Lewis?

According to News Of the World, Alexandra is expanding her options when dining out.

“I tried a vegan restaurant recently that Leona Lewis told me about. I was impressed. I hate training though, it’s the most boring thing in the world.”

Where is this restaurant again?

Burke said she tries to eat as healthy as possible before a photo shoot, but insists she never wants to whittle down to a Twiggy.

“Guys don’t like skinny girls, they like something to get hold of!” she said.

Hope Alexandra takes her own advice by putting a pat of vegan butter on her edamame next time.

Then she’ll really have the X Factor.

Alyssa Milano heads home after dining out at the STK steakhouse in West Hollywood

Alyssa Milano and her husband David Bugliari were spotted having dinner at the Sè San Diego Hotel restaurant Suite & Tender.

According to PEOPLE, the couple, “kept their menu vegetarian, ordering roasted butternut squash soup, sautéed seasonal mushrooms and creamed spinach, but saved room for dessert, digging in to the eatery’s signature Suite & Tender cheesecake.”

It’s not known if David is veg like Alyssa, but at least they agreed to eat on the same side of the food chain that evening.

Nothing ruins date night like kissing a pair of beef smelling lips.

Do you have a non veg partner who forces you to eat salad at the steakhouse? Or do you drag the hunter to the organic natural foods cafe to show him what eating “raw” is really about?

2008 Summer TCA Tour - Day 3

Bob Barker has always been outspoken on animal welfare issues, but has he joined Captain Paul Watson and the rest of the Sea Shepherd crew to thwart the whalers in the Southern Ocean?

Not quite (but hey, there’s always next season).

The Bob Barker is the latest ship to partake in the Sea Shepherd mission off the Adelie Coast.

The ship was refurbished thanks to a $5 million dollar donation by none other than Mr. Price is Right himself.

Check out the photo of Bob Barker (the ship) at tmz.com!

Kirstie Alley Going Vegetarian For Animals?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Celebrity Tweets, Food & Drink.

Hollywood Film Festival's 11th Annual Hollywood Awards - Backstage

Kirstie Alley is one of those celebrities vegetarians loathe-she went veg, had a bad experienced and blabbed about it.

“I can’t tell you how much weight I gained being a vegetarian!” Kirstie said. “A vegetarian would probably be eating vegetables.”

You can probably guess from Kirstie’s statement she wasn’t eating vegetables.

But Kirstie recently expressed her desire to go veg again, this time partly for animal welfare reasons.

“I would love to become a vegetarian or at least eat very little meat,” Kirstie Tweeted. “The way animals are ofted is very brutal. I always struggle with this.”

Wow.

This isn’t just some Hollywood starlet trying tofu to take off the extra pounds!

Could Kirstie’s concern with animals raised for meat be the kicker she needs to learn the right way to eat vegetarian?

West coast vegans are jumping with joy now that one of the most popular and celebrity sought after bakeries has opened in Los Angeles.

BabyCakes LA opened its doors in California this past weekend.

BabyCakes LA is located in downtown Los Angeles at 130 East 6th Street (between S. Main Street and S. Los Angeles Street).

Offering vegan cookies, brownies, cupcakes, loaves and more, the bakery was founded in New York by Erin McKenna after she spent hours in her own kitchen formulating recipes for desserts her body could tolerate, given her numerous food sensitivities.

BabyCakes items are vegan, mostly organic and gluten-free.

Hmm…New York during the summer, sunny Cal during the winter.

It’s time to purchase an east coast/west coast time share.

MTV Real World XXIII Washington, D.C. Callie-the vegan from Texas.

MTV Real World XXIII Washington, D.C. Callie-the vegan from Texas.

It seems as if MTV Real World likes to cast with the idea to create the most diverse, yet dysfunctional household every season, ultimately leading to several of the reality TV stars feeling like fishes out of water.

This season’s mix of cast features Callie, a vegan from Texas.

Hmm…A vegan from the south.

Has Callie already experienced what it’s like to feel out of place?

From MTV.com:

“A free-spirit vegan, Callie has always felt a little out of place in her conservative Texas town, and she’s just chomping at the bit to break free and chase her dreams of becoming a photographer. In D.C., she hopes to find the kinds of outlets for her creativity that don’t exist in small-town Texas and make some new friends along the way”

Wishing Callie the vegan best of luck on the show and in pursuing her dreams.

Hope she keeps the Vegetarian Guide to Washington, D.C bookmarked on her Internet browser.

Little Red Riding Hood And The Vegetarian Wolf

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 in Books, Children, Food & Drink.

The True Story of Little Red Riding Hood

The True Story of Little Red Riding Hood

Children’s books are getting more progressive and politically correct these days.

The big bad wolf in The True Story of Little Red Riding Hood can now be vegetarian and skip the treat of human meat while Little Red searches for vegetarian recipes.

Sounds hilarious enough, but not everyone is happy with the rewrites of traditional children’s stories.

The Mail Online wrote an article titled, Children Won’t Digest Tales of Feeble Vegetarian Wolves, in which it stated:

“What is so staggering is the sheer audacity of the people who come up with these new versions. It’s like the trendy Anglican clerics who took it upon themselves in the early 1960s to knock out an ‘improved’ version of the King James Bible. Yet just as we allow our local vicars to get away with using the enfeebled modernised Bible, so we let bookshops get away with flogging emaciated versions of children’s classics.”

A vegetarian wolf is far from emaciated.

What better way to teach children about healthy eating (not to mention non violent behavior) than to have the villainous wolf eat vegetables and forgo flesh.

This wolf should be portrayed living longer than his other wolf neighbors, paying less out of pocket expenses for his health care and scoring more with the female wolves as he misses out on the effects of eating cholesterol and fat filled human meat that will ultimately lead to his impotence.

Oh, wait. This is a children’s book. Healthy body, less doctor visits, but no impotence.

Perhaps other renditions of classic tales have adulterated the originals.

But the big, bad vegetarian wolf and his broccoli should stay.
