Starpulse has never failed to give us great slideshows of veg celebrities, like their Sexiest Female Vegetarian Slide Show.

Recently, the site did a show on celebrities who practice the vegan lifestyle.

Sisters Emily and Zooey Deschanel, novice cookbook author Alicia Silverstone, and K.D. Lang, who once compared eating meat to cannibalism, are included along with 12 other celebrities.

“If you knew how meat was made, you’d probably lose your lunch,” Lang once said.

Heather Mills Beef With Walkers Crisps

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 23rd, 2009 in Celebrity Tweets, Chefs, Food & Drink.

Heather Mills Launches V-Bites Restaurant

There’s nothing worse than finding out your favorite snack isn’t all that vegan or vegetarian because the company has changed the recipe.

Heather Mills was less than pleased after discovering Walkers Crisps added dried milk to its salt and vinegar chips.

During a recent Tweet, Heather said:

“Just got off the train, most disappointed as Walkers salt and vinegar crisps have now added dried milk as an ingredient, yet they want to reduce their carbon footprint.”

“Never mind, eliminate lactose intolerant nibblers as well [as] vegans, does anyone know anyone at Walkers????”

Right on, Heather.

It’s always interesting to learn that companies put such non veg ingredients in seemingly vegetarian items.

Like beef broth in vegetable soup.

C’mon, now.

Do we really need to add animal ingredients to something so pure, delicious and healthy?

When it comes to veg food, manufacturers should follow the KISS policy–Keep It Simple Stupid.

Jonathan Safran Foer "Eating Animals" Interview

Jonathan Safran Foer "Eating Animals" Interview

Jonathan Safran Foer was the guest of honor at this year’s Farm Sanctuary Celebration for Turkeys.

Jonathan read some parts from his latest book, Eating Animals, and took the time to talk to green gossip website Ecorazzi.

Here are a few thoughts Jonathan gave to Ecorazzi:

On Farm Sanctuary:
Farm Sanctuary was the first place I went when I did my research for this book. I had a really wonderful day. In many ways it established a tone for the rest of my research, which was that these issues all depend on how you tell them—how you present them. It’s not the case that the world needs new values, it just needs a new story—a story that more accurately reflects what’s going on in the world and more directly connects it to who we already are, not who we want to be, just who we already are.

On what famous person he’d like to see go veg this Thanksgiving:
I don’t know if I think of it in quite those terms. Like I was saying, there’s something that seems dichotomist about that—turkey or no turkey. Look, someone like Glenn Beck could not have a turkey and that’s fine, but what I would so strongly prefer is that he had a week-long series about animal agriculture in America. I have no interest in prying a turkey from his hands. Frankly, he could do so much more good in the world then his individual choice.

Leona Lewis Stella McCartney Fashion Line

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 23rd, 2009 in Fashion, Female Singers.

Leona Lewis arrives at the 37th American Music Awards in Los Angeles

You learn to crawl before you walk and the latest tabloid news is that Leona Lewis will be collaborating with another vegetarian designer to launch her fashion line before starting one of her own.

According to The Daily Mirror, Leona and Stella McCartney were seen at a charity event together.

“Leona and Stella get on like a house on fire. They met at the recent Children In Need charity show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.”

“They are both vegetarians, don’t wear leather and are huge animal lovers. The line would be very animal friendly.”

Of course, if we had a dollar for every time a British tabloid printed a story that stretched the truth a little…

Judging from the sources, it looks as if Leona and Stella were just having a good chat.

Another source told the media Leona said:

“I’m on a mission. I’d love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not so expensive.”

“There’s so much I want to do. I’ve always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that’s something I want to focus on next year.”

Whether or not Leona and Stella are actually doing a fashion line together is questionable.

But based on Leona’s history of goal driven success and love for animals, we’re certain she’ll be at least starting her own.

Martha Stewart Vegetarian Thanksgiving (Recipe)

Ciroc Vodka Presents Sean "Diddy" Combs' Birthday Celebration

Martha Stewart recently featured a vegetarian Thanksgiving episode on her cooking show.

In case you didn’t know, Martha’s daughter, Alexis , has been a longtime veg and activist.

Growing up, Martha and her family raised their own livestock and after Alexis realized the animals on the farm were the same ones on her plate, she decided to veg out.

Could Martha have spent her time crafting these dishes to please Alexis while she was growing up?

Martha’s “Hearty Vegetarian Thanksgiving” menu can be found on her website and features delish sounding recipes like Celery Root, Persimmon, and Swiss Chard “Stuffing”, Vegetarian Mushroom Gravy, and a vegetarian “loaf” featuring beans and nuts.

Email these to the chef in charge of Thanksgiving dinner with your crowd this year and ensure no more “vegetarian” stuffing with chicken broth when you sit down at the table.

Saturday Night Live featured a hilarious clip mocking Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and Dave Matthews.

“Jason” walks in and “Jack” says “vegan cookies” and asks Jason what he’s been up to.

“Oh, the usual,” Jason says.

“Maintaining my avocado farm,” he added.

Jason’s recipe for chocomole containing chocolate, agave syrup and avocado might be even better than vegan cookies.
