Mo’Nique “Precious: Based On The Novel Push” Star Quits Red Meat

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 in Actresses, Comedians, Food & Drink.

The 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards Nominees

Comedian and actress Mo’Nique is a quitter of red meat!

In 2007, not only did she swear off beef and steak, but almost all fried foods as well.

Just don’t touch her Doritos.

“I still love those damn Doritos, baby!” Mo’Nique said.

As a result of changing her habits, Mo’Nique slimmed from a size 20 to a size 14.

“Big is still beautiful,” she said, clarifying that “Big healthy people are beautiful.”

Critics are pegging her as a possible Oscar nominee for her role as an abusive mother in the film, Precious: Based on The Novel Push by Sapphire.

It’s awesome that Mo’Nique gave up a major killer of both humans and animals.

Some have found that people who ate red meat have a higher chance of dying over a 10 year period than their non red meat eating peers, mainly due to cancer and cardiovascular problems.

Best of luck to Mo’Nique in both film and her diet.

Emma Heming Bruce Willis Madeo’s–Fur Real Or Fur Fake

Bruce Willis Takes His Wife Out to Madeos!!!

Emma Heming and Bruce Willis recently enjoyed dinner at Madeo’s in West Hollywood.

Wonder if Emma wears her heart on her sleeve–literally.

Cause if that’s a real fur coat, Bruce’s new wife has got to be heartless.

Bruce may have a thing for hairy ladies, as his former wife, Demi Moore, has made PETA worst dressed celebrity list due to the family of animals in her closet.

But we hope Emma’s a total phony and was wearing a lovely faux fur that evening.

What do you think?

Did Emma fake it? Or was she fur real?

Sarah McLachlan “Saturday Night Live” ASPCA Commercial (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Humor, Videos.

Saturday Night Live recently poked fun of Sarah McLachlan and the ASPCA commercials where her song “Angel” is the soundtrack behind some disturbing facts about animal cruelty.

“You agreed we weren’t going to talk about those creepy ASPCA commercials,” anchor Seth Meyers said.

The “Sarah” begins to sing Angel while pictures of dogs are shown in the background with facts like “this dog’s house is in foreclosure.”

It might be offensive, but hey, this clip is still giving the ASPCA publicity and that’s a great thing!

Stephen Glover–Steve-O–Campus Talk Magazine 2009

Stephen Glover "Steve-O" Court Appearance

Stephen Glover, aka Steve-O “Jackass” is featured in the latest edition of Campus Talk magazine.

It may as well been called the Stephen Glover Veggie Files, because Steve’s interview is all about his vegetarianism.

Now that’s what we call an education.

Here are a few excerpts:

On Eating Meat and the afterlife:
In 2008 I came across a YouTube video that basically scared me into believing I was going to go to Hell if I kept eating meat. After that I became a pescetarian and the only meat I ate was fish. I figured if Jesus was down with eating fish then I could too. I’ve since become completely vegan.

On Not So Animal Friendly television stunts:
I remember PETA having an issue with the first stunt I ever did for Jackass where I swallowed the Goldfish and then puked it back up. There were actually a few situations on Wildboys that compromised my morals but for the most part we made sure Wildboys was a very animal-friendly show.

TMI about that Cruelty Doesn’t Fly Video:
The commercial for the fur campaign was really a lot of fun. Not many people can say they’ve been stripped searched by Pamela Anderson. The crazy thing is when we were shooting I had a big poop stain on my underwear which was kind of embarrassing.

Oh, Steve. You could have spared that last bit of information.

Earlier we brought you the news that famed TV doc Dr. Oz challenged a meat loving cowboy to go on a vegan diet.

Rocco took the challenge and 28 days later lost 6 inches from his waistline, lowered his blood sugar from dangerously high 172 to 99 and raised his good HDL cholesterol.

Watch the “after” video of Rocco and Dr. Oz discussing the results.

“I have an eating disorder,” Rocco said. “Nobody’s out to save fat guys.”

“If I can do it, anybody can do it,” Rocco said.

Rocco said he tried meat after his challenge, but it just wasn’t the same.

We hope the new “difference” will help keep Rocco away from the animals for the rest of his long, healthy life!

Meatless Mouthful: Why Ellen DeGeneres Went Vegan

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 in Meatless Mouthful, TV Hosts.

23rd Annual Genesis Awards - Press Room

“I personally chose to go vegan because I educated myself on factory farming and cruelty to animals, and I suddenly realized that what was on my plate were living things, with feelings. And I just couldn’t disconnect myself from it any longer. I read books like “Diet for a New America” and saw documentaries like “Earthlings” and “Meet your Meat,” and it became an easy choice for me.”

“If you choose to educate yourself, it’ll be an easy choice for you, too. Click here to take a look at a variety of reasons for living a vegan life.”

—-Ellen DeGeneres, on her television show website, where she not only shares her reasons for going veg, but gives videos of cooking demonstrations, recipes, examples of plant based proteins and more to help her fans learn about the diet and lifestyle.

It’s easy to see why this woman won favorite vegetarian celebrity.

Christian Serratos PETA "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" Ad

Christian Serratos has bared all in a PETA I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur ad in an effort to urge Twilight fans and everybody else to stay as far away from fur as the Cullens stay away from human flesh.

The 19 year old actress told PETA, “I’ve always been opposed to slaughtering, eating, wearing carcass. It’s just always seemed gross to me.”

Not to mention cruel.

According to PETA’s website, “Rabbits, foxes, minks, dogs, cats, chinchillas, and other animals are bludgeoned, strangled, drowned, poisoned, stomped to death, or electrocuted or have their necks broken all in the name of fashion.”

That’s a death worse than one by vampire.
