Pamela Anderson‘s debut of A*Muse has come to an end at Air New Zealand Fashion Week.

When a reporter asked her if she’d always be remembered as CJ running on the beach in a red swimsuit on Baywatch, Pamela answered she’d rather be remembered for her work with vegetarianism and animal rights.

Of course, wearing a red G-string while introducing your eco conscious fashion helps to make a lasting impression.

Wednesday’s episode of The Glenn Beck Program showed Glenn Beck appearing to boil a live frog.

Rest assured, the political commentator says, the frog was a plastic toy.

Alexandra Burke may be compared to Leona Lewis for her talent and sex appeal, but the X Factor winner insists she and the vegetarian are nothing alike.

“She’s a really sweet girl,” Burke told Attitude. “I was actually happy that it wasn’t just a brief meeting, it was actually sitting down talking. Well you know she’s very laid back. I’m quite the opposite to her.

“I saw her in LA for dinner, she’s a vegan and I actually tried a vegan restaurant she goes to – not with her – but I went to one and it was actually quite nice. I was quite impressed because I like my chicken.”

Glad to hear Alexandra liked her meatless meal.

Is there a chance she will become a little like Leona and frequent the vegan restaurant scene more often?

Someone’s gotta tell her about the dozens of faux chicken she can cook at home.

Alexandra releases a new single, Bad Boys, on October 5.

Her album, Overcome, debuts October 19.

Yom Kippur is approaching and the Jewish ritual known as kapparot may make some vegetarian Jews a little uneasy.

The practice involves taking a chicken and moving it around one’s head, meant to remove the sins from the person to the chicken. The chicken is then slaughtered and eaten or donated to the poor.

Dr. Allen Kornberg, executive director for Farm Sanctuary, gave his thoughts on the matter.

Kornberg says the practice can be done 100% chicken free, but people are still, “swinging the chickens over their heads and then slicing their throats with razors.”

Some rabbis believe that this violates kosher food standards and an Israeli court ruled in 2007 that the practice violates animal welfare laws.

So what’s a Jewish vegetarian to do?

Dr. Kornberg gives this advice:

“Fortunately, celebrating kapparot need not involve animals at all, because Rabbinical law stipulates that there are humane ways to partake of this sacrament. That is, even the most orthodox among us can spare a chicken’s suffering by making a monetary donation to a worthy cause instead of sacrificing a bird, and those wanting to experience an authentic kapparot ceremony can put their material offering in a bag and use it as part of the ritual in the same way they would a live chicken. In contrast to slaughtering innocent animals, practicing kapparot humanely is consistent with the prayers offered up during the high holy days to rachamim (compassion and sensitivity), and is in keeping with the true spirit of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.”

Justin Bieber is a rising R&B star from Canada with his latest album, My World, that includes his hit single, One Time, hitting the stores November 17.

Justin has teamed up with PETA to create this PSA advocating compassion to animals, which includes adoption.

“My Dad and I used to go and hang out … just go and visit the different animals and stuff,” Justin said. “It’s really important that people adopt. I really encourage going out to an animal shelter or a place where you can get a dog that has been abandoned or doesn’t have a home.”

Bet thousands of screaming teenage girl fans would love to be adopted by Justin, too.

During a press conference promoting her new fashion line A*Muse at the ongoing Air New Zealand Fashion Week, Pamela Anderson said to reporters:

“Would you like a vegetarian appetiser? Without the mueslying [sic],” she said. “Yeah, no pig or sheep hurting.”

What exactly is mulesing?

“In Australia, the most commonly raised sheep are Merinos, specifically bred to have wrinkly skin, which means more wool per animal. This unnatural overload of wool causes many sheep to collapse and even die of heat exhaustion during hot months, and the wrinkles collect urine and moisture. Attracted to the moisture, flies lay eggs in the folds of skin, and the hatched maggots can eat the sheep alive. To prevent this so-called “flystrike,” Australian ranchers perform a barbaric operation-called “mulesing”-where they force live sheep onto their backs, restrain their legs between metal bars, and, without any painkillers whatsoever, slice chunks of flesh from around their tail area. This is done to cause smooth, scarred skin that can’t harbor fly eggs. Ironically, the exposed, bloody wounds themselves often get flystrike before they heal.”

Yikes!

The very thought of mulesing takes the sexiness out of fashion.

The Kind Diet

“I’ve been thinking about writing this book for 8 years. I kept a big file where I would put all the information I gathered (recipes, tips, etc) and it just kept growing. Over the years, I’ve been able to help friends deal with everything from ovarian cysts, to digestive & stomach issues, to irregular periods. I would send them all a packet of info and they would say to me, “This is a book!” But it wasn’t until a friend gave me the solid nudge I needed that I actually took steps toward getting it published. I finally carved out space in my life to devote to this project and I am so glad I did. I’m really looking forward to being able to share all the knowledge and tools I’ve accumulated over the years — simple and delicious ideas that will allow people to look and feel their best!”
